The Oceanaire OWC1811 1.5-Ton Water-Cooled Portable Air Conditioner delivers 18,000 BTU/hr of cooling for commercial and industrial environments where conventional hot-air exhaust ducting is impractical. Its water-cooled condenser transfers heat through a suitable water supply and return system, making it ideal for server rooms, telecommunications facilities, offices, laboratories, and enclosed equipment rooms.

Operating on 115V / 60Hz single-phase power with a NEMA 5-15P plug, the OWC1811 provides 600 CFM of conditioned airflow, electronic temperature controls, a washable air filter, and a built-in condensate pump with up to 20 feet of vertical lift.

Unlike air-cooled spot coolers that require a hot-air exhaust duct, the OWC1811 uses water to carry away condenser heat. This provides installation flexibility for facilities with suitable water connections but limited exhaust options.

Key Features of the Oceanaire OWC1811

  • 18,000 BTU/hr Cooling Capacity: Delivers approximately 1.5 tons of cooling for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Water-Cooled Condenser: Rejects heat through a water system rather than a conventional hot-air exhaust duct.

Common Applications for the Oceanaire OWC1811

Server Rooms and IT Equipment Cooling

Server rooms, networking closets, and telecommunications facilities produce heat from continuously operating electronic equipment.

Traditional portable air conditioners require a way to discharge hot condenser air, which can be difficult in enclosed IT spaces.

The Oceanaire OWC1811 uses water-cooled heat rejection, allowing the unit to provide cooling without conventional exhaust ducting.

Its 18,000 BTU/hr cooling capacity makes it an option for temporary or supplemental cooling in smaller equipment rooms.

Common applications include:

  • Emergency cooling during HVAC failures
  • Supplemental cooling for networking equipment
  • Temporary cooling during HVAC maintenance
  • Telecommunications closets
  • Cooling during IT infrastructure upgrades

Proper cooling-load calculations, water-system compatibility, electrical service, and airflow management should be evaluated before installation.

Learn more in our Best Portable Spot Coolers for Server Rooms in 2026 guide.

Offices and Commercial Buildings

The OWC1811 can provide supplemental cooling for offices, enclosed commercial workspaces, mechanical rooms, and other areas requiring additional temperature control.

Its compact cabinet and 115V electrical configuration make it convenient for facilities with suitable water connections and limited installation space.

The unit can be repositioned using its swivel casters when cooling requirements change.

Manufacturing and Industrial Equipment Rooms

Industrial equipment and machinery can generate localized heat that may not be adequately controlled by a building’s existing HVAC system.

The OWC1811 provides targeted cooling for suitable industrial workstations, equipment rooms, electrical spaces, and maintenance facilities.

Its water-cooled design is particularly useful where an appropriate water source is available but hot-air exhaust ducting is impractical.

Healthcare Facilities and Laboratories

Healthcare support areas, laboratories, and institutional buildings may require temporary cooling during HVAC maintenance or equipment repairs.

The Oceanaire OWC1811 offers portable cooling for appropriate environments where conventional condenser exhaust is difficult to accommodate.

Healthcare and laboratory installations should be evaluated against applicable facility and environmental requirements.

Temporary and Emergency Commercial Cooling

Unexpected HVAC failures can interrupt operations and expose sensitive equipment to elevated temperatures.

The OWC1811 provides a temporary cooling option during maintenance, renovations, equipment replacement, and emergency response.

Explore additional applications through our Temporary Climate Control Solutions page.

Specifications are based on published OceanAire documentation and may change. Cooling performance and water requirements depend on operating conditions. Confirm electrical and water connections before installation.

How Does the Oceanaire OWC1811 Water-Cooled System Work?

Unlike conventional air-cooled portable air conditioners, the Oceanaire OWC1811 uses a water-cooled condenser to remove heat from the refrigeration system.

Warm room air passes over the evaporator coil, where heat is absorbed and cooled air is returned to the space.

The refrigeration system transfers this heat to water flowing through the condenser. The warmed water then leaves through the water outlet connection.

This eliminates the need to route hot condenser air outdoors.

However, the OWC1811 requires an appropriate water supply and return or approved discharge arrangement. It cannot operate without condenser cooling water.

Water Flow Requirements

The required condenser water flow depends on the entering water temperature.

Published specifications include:

  • 1.1 GPM at 60°F entering water
  • 4.5 GPM at 85°F entering water

Actual water requirements depend on operating conditions, including room temperature and water temperature.

Customers should confirm the available water supply, pressure, flow rate, and discharge arrangement before purchasing the unit.

Water Connection Sizes

The standard OWC1811 features:

  • Water Inlet: 3/8-inch male flare
  • Water Outlet: 3/8-inch male flare
  • Condensate Drain: 3/8-inch male flare

Compatible hoses and fittings are required to connect the unit to the building’s water system.

For customers requiring faster hose installation and removal, Climate Control Solutions also offers the Oceanaire OWC1811QC Quick Connect Model.

Electrical Requirements

The OWC1811 operates on 115V / 60Hz single-phase power with a NEMA 5-15P LCDI plug.

Published electrical specifications include:

  • Rated current: 11.3 amps
  • Inrush current: 69 amps
  • Power consumption: 1,300 watts

The unit requires a compatible, properly rated electrical circuit. OceanAire recommends a dedicated circuit and appropriate time-delay circuit protection.

Built-In Condensate Pump

The OWC1811 includes an automatic internal condensate pump.

The pump provides up to 20 feet of vertical lift and features an overflow alert to help manage collected condensation.

Condensate must be discharged to an appropriate drainage location.

Optional Accessories for the Oceanaire OWC1811

The Oceanaire OWC1811 can be paired with compatible water hoses, adapters, and installation accessories.

Water Supply and Return Hoses

The standard OWC1811 uses 3/8-inch male flare connections for the water inlet and outlet.

Compatible hose assemblies should be selected based on connection type, required length, water temperature, operating pressure, and the building’s plumbing arrangement.

Contact Climate Control Solutions to confirm available hose assemblies and fittings.

Oceanaire OWC1811QC Quick Connect Model

For customers who frequently connect, disconnect, or relocate portable air conditioning equipment, the OWC1811QC offers a separate Quick Connect configuration.

The Quick Connect version provides the same nominal 18,000 BTU/hr cooling capacity but uses different fittings:

  • 3/8-inch Quick Connect water inlet
  • 3/8-inch Quick Connect water outlet
  • 1/4-inch Quick Connect condensate drain

The standard OWC1811 and OWC1811QC are separate configurations. Customers should select the version that matches their preferred hose connection arrangement.

Why Choose the Oceanaire OWC1811?

The Oceanaire OWC1811 combines commercial-grade cooling performance with the installation flexibility of a water-cooled condenser.

Its 18,000 BTU/hr cooling capacity provides an option for smaller enclosed spaces where traditional condenser exhaust ducting is impractical.

Unlike larger water-cooled models that require 208–230V electrical service, the OWC1811 operates on 115V single-phase power with a NEMA 5-15P plug.

The built-in condensate pump, electronic controls, washable filter, and locking casters add convenience for temporary and supplemental commercial cooling applications.
