At Climate Control Solutions, we provide effective heating and cooling solutions tailored to our clients’ needs. Recently, we completed a project at a 13,000 square foot construction site in Waco, Texas. The site, destined to become a medical facility, required temporary cooling for a month until the permanent HVAC system could be installed. Here’s how we met this challenge.
The Challenge of Cooling a Construction Site
Constructing a medical facility requires maintaining appropriate environmental conditions, especially in the Texas heat. The construction company needed a reliable cooling solution to ensure a comfortable working environment and proper conditions for materials and equipment. With the HVAC system still in progress, they turned to us for assistance.
Our Solution
MOB-250HPEH: The Cooling Unit
We deployed the MOB-250HPEH, a 25-ton portable air conditioner. This unit provides 290,000 BTU/h of cooling power and 245,000 BTU/h of heating capacity, ensuring consistent temperature control. It also includes dehumidification capabilities, which helped manage moisture levels at the site.
Powering the Solution
To ensure uninterrupted operation of the MOB-250HPEH, we provided a 70 Kva generator. This generator supplied a stable power source, essential for maintaining continuous cooling and heating.
Ducting the Air
To effectively duct the air in and pull it out, we replaced one of the doors with a trimmed piece of plywood. The plywood was customized with four holes: two for the supply air and two for the return air. This setup facilitated efficient airflow management throughout the site.
Enhancing Airflow
To improve the distribution of cool air, we used two Big Ass Fans Sidekick fans. These fans, known for their efficiency, were strategically placed to circulate the cooled air effectively throughout the facility.
The Outcome
The combination of the MOB-250HPEH and the Big Ass Fans Sidekick fans, along with the custom ducting solution, successfully maintained a comfortable environment at the construction site. This allowed the construction crew to work efficiently and protected materials and equipment from heat-related issues.
